HARRIS NA HELP ALS Charge on Bank Statement: BMO Loan Payment or Unauthorized ACH Debit?

If you see a HARRIS NA HELP ALS charge, HELP ALS HARRIS NA, or ACH DDA Debit HELP ALS HARRIS NA on your bank statement, it may be connected to a BMO or former BMO Harris Bank loan payment, automatic loan payment, mortgage payment, auto loan payment, motorhome/RV loan payment, or another ACH withdrawal. If you do not recognize the payment, contact your bank quickly because this descriptor often appears as an ACH-style debit from a checking account.

Consumer Reports and Experiences

Consumers often search for harris na help als, help als harris na, Harris NA, Harris NA Help ALS charge, ACH DDA Debit Help ALS Harris NA, and Harris NA Help ALS on bank statement after seeing a withdrawal they do not immediately recognize.

Some cardholders and bank customers report that the charge matched a legitimate BMO or former BMO Harris loan payment, mortgage payment, motorhome loan payment, or phone payment. Others report unauthorized withdrawals from checking accounts using routing and account information. Because both types of reports exist, this charge should be verified against your own loan records and bank account history.

If you recently made a loan payment to BMO, BMO Harris, or a lender connected to a transferred loan, this descriptor may be explainable. If you did not authorize the debit, do not wait. Contact your bank, ask for ACH details, and start an unauthorized debit investigation if needed.

What Is the HARRIS NA HELP ALS Charge?

The HARRIS NA HELP ALS descriptor appears to be associated with ACH or bank-account payments that may involve BMO, the bank formerly branded as BMO Harris. “HARRIS NA” may point to the older BMO Harris Bank N.A. name, while “HELP ALS” may be an internal or shortened payment descriptor rather than a clear consumer-facing company name.

In many cases, this appears to be a bank withdrawal or electronic payment rather than a normal credit card purchase. It may show as an ACH debit, DDA debit, CCD debit, loan payment, or web/phone payment on the account where the money was withdrawn.

Why This Charge May Appear on Your Statement

  • BMO or former BMO Harris loan payment: The withdrawal may match a loan, mortgage, RV loan, motorhome loan, auto loan, or other installment loan payment.
  • Automatic loan payment: A scheduled ACH payment may have pulled from your checking account.
  • Phone payment: Some consumers report seeing the descriptor after making a loan payment by phone.
  • Transferred or serviced loan: A loan may be serviced by BMO or connected to the former BMO Harris name even if you remember a different lender name.
  • Business checking ACH debit: Some reports mention CCD-style withdrawals from business checking accounts.
  • Duplicate payment: A scheduled payment and a manual payment may both have processed.
  • Shared account or authorized user: A spouse, business partner, bookkeeper, employee, or family member may have made the payment.
  • Unauthorized ACH debit: If no one authorized the withdrawal, contact your bank immediately.

Is HARRIS NA HELP ALS BMO or BMO Harris?

In many consumer reports, HARRIS NA HELP ALS appears to be connected to BMO or former BMO Harris loan payments. BMO Harris Bank simplified its brand name to BMO, but older banking, loan, or payment systems may still show Harris-related wording on some statements.

That said, the descriptor alone is not enough to prove the transaction is legitimate. Confirm it by comparing the withdrawal date and amount to your BMO loan, mortgage, auto loan, RV loan, motorhome loan, or other payment history.

How To Verify the Charge

Before disputing the withdrawal, try to match it to a real payment or loan account.

  • Check your BMO or former BMO Harris account: Review loan payment history, mortgage payment history, auto loan records, and automatic payment settings.
  • Check the amount: Compare the withdrawal to your regular loan payment, mortgage payment, auto loan payment, or RV/motorhome loan payment.
  • Check the date: ACH loan payments may post one or more days after the payment was scheduled.
  • Search your email: Look for “BMO,” “BMO Harris,” “loan payment,” “mortgage payment,” “auto loan,” “payment confirmation,” and the exact amount.
  • Ask other account users: A spouse, family member, business partner, bookkeeper, or authorized user may have made the payment.
  • Review automatic payments: Check whether autopay or an automatic payment program is active.
  • Ask your bank for ACH details: Request the ACH company name, company ID, trace number, TEL ID, CCD/PPD/WEB code, and originator information.

BMO Contact Information

If the withdrawal appears connected to BMO or former BMO Harris, use official BMO support routes or the phone number printed on your loan statement.

When contacting BMO or your bank, have the exact descriptor, amount, date, bank account last four digits, ACH trace number if available, loan account number if known, and any payment confirmation ready.

About the 888-758-4389 Number

The older version of this page listed 888-758-4389, but that number should not be treated as verified support for this charge unless your bank’s merchant record specifically shows it. Some consumer reports say HARRIS NA HELP ALS is not associated with that number.

For safety, call the number on your BMO loan statement, the number on the back of your bank card, or BMO’s official published support number instead of relying on an unverified number from a statement-code search.

What To Do If the Payment Is Legitimate

If the charge matches a real BMO or former BMO Harris payment, keep a record for your files.

  1. Save the bank statement line showing the payment.
  2. Save the matching BMO loan or account payment confirmation.
  3. Check whether the payment was manual, automatic, phone-based, or online.
  4. Review future payment dates so the descriptor is not confusing next month.
  5. Update autopay settings if the amount or bank account is wrong.

What To Do If You Do Not Recognize the Withdrawal

If you do not have a matching BMO loan or did not authorize the ACH debit, act quickly.

  • Contact the bank where the money was withdrawn.
  • Tell the bank you may have an unauthorized ACH debit.
  • Ask for the ACH trace number, company ID, and originator name.
  • Ask whether the debit was coded as CCD, PPD, WEB, TEL, or another ACH type.
  • Ask whether the transaction can be returned or disputed.
  • Ask whether a stop payment or ACH block is appropriate.
  • Contact BMO if your bank’s merchant record points to BMO or former BMO Harris.
  • Monitor your account for additional withdrawals.

Unauthorized ACH Debit Warning

An unfamiliar ACH debit is different from an ordinary card charge. If someone has your bank routing number and account number, they may be able to initiate withdrawals from your checking account. If the HARRIS NA HELP ALS debit was not authorized, ask your bank what steps are needed to protect the account.

Your bank may recommend returning the ACH debit, placing a stop payment, closing and reopening the account, creating an ACH block, changing online banking credentials, or monitoring for additional unauthorized debits.

Is HARRIS NA HELP ALS a Scam?

The HARRIS NA HELP ALS descriptor is not automatically a scam. Some consumers report that it matched a legitimate BMO loan, mortgage, or motorhome/RV loan payment.

However, other consumers report unauthorized withdrawals. If you do not recognize the payment, have no BMO or former BMO Harris loan, or see duplicate withdrawals, contact your bank immediately and ask about unauthorized ACH protections.

Related Credit Card and Bank Charges

ACH, bank-payment, digital-service, and online-order descriptors can be confusing because statements may show an old bank name, internal billing code, phone payment label, or processor wording instead of the company name consumers expect.

Weird Title For A Loan Payment - Harris NA Help ALS

March 4, 2024

I made a payment by phone to BMO bank for a loan. The transactions shows up correctly on my BMO statement. However, on my Wells Fargo statement (where the money came from), the company name is Harris NA Help ALS. WTF??? I’ve found BMO Bank to be a very screwed up bank. This wrong-titling of a transaction is the latest in a string of weird things coming from BMO bank. I’m glad that it shows up correctly on my BMO statement.
